After the January earthquake, thousands of children find themselves alone. Newly orphaned children add to an already huge population of orphans in Haiti. Children are the most vulnerable victims of the earthquake, especially those under 5. Children 5 and under easily succumb to disease and sickness. Keeping the children housed and fed is not an easy task, but helping are some great people. I have been to some orphanages all funded by local Haitians and small foundations from people all over the world. Most of the funding comes from people who have seen the children and their needs in person. The following photographs give a glimpse inside one of the orphanages I have traveled to while in Haiti. This particular orphanage houses close to 70 children, with another camp being built to house roughly 200. The time I spent here was truly a learning experience. The children are simply amazing, and they can teach us a lot. A truly amazing group of children. If anyone would like to help with this great cause, contact me. I have the director's contact information.
